IPads Invade Red Bank

iPads Invade Red Bank
Scratch Jr. used to create animationRed Bank teachers put their collaborative heads together to brainstorm activities to develop 21st century skills and improve hands on technology with their students.  Why not start using iPads in the classroom for direct instruction, enrichment, and reinforcement?  A schedule was designed to ensure each classroom teacher has a class set for a period of instruction and a small group set for an entire morning or afternoon every week.  The iPads area being used to allow our students to use their imaginations and be "producers" of information.  During a WIN cycle, they are using Scratch Jr. to make their own animations and videos.  Classes are using Storybird as a tool for creative writing in Writers Workshop. QR Codes are being used to increase independence and self-assessment.  Students in one class are working with students in another class to teach each other new apps and activities.  The best part of using the iPads is the amount of excitement that you can feel coming from both the teachers and the kids.  Our new technology is helping Red Bank break down the walls of individual classrooms and become a true community of learners!
